Transportation Demand Management

RideTheTraid.org is a webpage for the regional transportation demand management (TDM) initiative in the Piedmont Triad. The expected outcomes of the regional TDM initiative are to:

  •  Reduce vehicle miles traveled;
  • Reduce transportation related COand particulate emissions; and
  • Make walking, biking, carpooling, vanpooling and public transportation preferred mobility options.

There are four elements of the TDM initiative: the Regional Vanpool Program, the Regional Call Center, the promotion and marketing of non-single occupancy vehicle travel and modes, and program administration and planning. All the various forms of public and personal transportation available in our region are highlighted. The work of the initiative is administrated by the Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (PART) and a consortium of regional partners.
